Chris Kulanga holds an MSc in Informatics from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College, and a BSc in Computer Science and Physics from the same college. Chris is an ardent supporter of Digital Health, and believes that well implemented, inclusive, context focused, and sustainable Digital Health systems have a huge potential to ensure effective and efficient health systems. I have been an active player in the Malawi Digital Health Landscape from 2009, and have contributed to Digital Health research, Digital Health assessments, and development of Digital Health policies, strategies, Standard Operating procedures and guidelines. I have held several technical and leadership positions including: ICT Manager for Nkhoma Hospital (2009-2013), Program manager (2013-2015) and there after Country Director (2016-2020) for D-tree International in the Malawi Office, and now, as a User Support Lead in the Kuunika ‘Data for Action’ project in the Digital Health Division with the Ministry of Health. My current ‘exciting’ position involves coordinating the establishment and sustenance of robust national user support processes and systems for digital health users in Malawi Over the 11 years of my engagement in digital health, I have coordinated and managed many Digital Health projects focusing on community and facility interventions, setting the foundational work and reference points for practical implementation of Digital Health systems in resource constrained contexts like Malawi. I am an active member of the Global Digital Health Network (GDHN), and the Malawi Digital Health Technical Working group. When not working on Digital Health engagements, I like spending time with family and friends, travelling and appreciating nature.
